Alibre Design v12.0 Released

Official Press Release

Richardson, TX - September 30, 2009 Today Alibre, Inc., (www.alibre.com) the value leader in the 3D CAD market, announced the latest release of its flagship design software, Alibre Design 12.0. More than a year in the works, Alibre Design 12.0 represents Alibre's most aggressive release to date and focuses on an extensive variety of new functionality, performance, customization, and visual appeal.

The release comes on the heels of a hugely successful public beta program that lasted several months. "Getting our end-users involved early and often has been critical to ensuring that what we're putting in the software gets the ultimate stamp of approval. The "what" for the release has been almost exclusively driven by customer requests. The "how" is equally important, and the hundreds of beta testers have helped us ensure that we are delivering what they are asking for, how they are asking for it," says Max Freeman, Alibre VP of Marketing.

Alibre Design 12.0 contains new functionality in every area of the product. "We tried to obtain an excellent balance between big ticket features and usability enhancements to existing areas of the product," says Paul Grayson, Alibre Chairman and CEO. "This release focuses on the small stuff, for example new selection tools and icon previews in Windows Explorer, to the larger items such as lofted sheet metal tools. This balance has resonated with our beta group in a very positive way," he continues. "Giving our customers the tools they need and making existing tools more efficient is what Alibre Design v12 is all about."

In addition to new features, the Alibre product lineup is also slightly changing. Most notably, Alibre Translate, a set of import and export filters for native SolidWorks, Pro/E, Inventor, Catia, and Parasolid files, will be included in future sales of Alibre Design Expert at no extra charge. Previously Alibre Translate was a separate add-on, retailing for $499.
