    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

    Understood. Thanks!

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

Unless I misunderstand you, I can't replicate that. Try a Line crossing very close to a Reference Point.

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

I guess that too. I think this is a bug in Alibre. I can't think of any reason for it to be a feature or for the Fixed Constraint to be removed, certainly not for Control Point or Interpolation Point Splines and certainly not without warning. You can also drag the End Node of a Line onto a...

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

I'd love to see an explanation of this. Is it determined by the solver in 2D DCM or by its implementation in Alibre?

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

I still don't understand why Extend doesn't need to change the Spline curve yet Trim does (using Spline by Reference Points)...

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

Indeed, so why does the Fixed Constraint need to be removed for those?

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

But you can add a Node without changing the shape of the Spline... Edit, I see you can't....

    Fixed Constraint Failure on Spline

Create a Spline using Reference Points and lock it using a Fixed Constraint. Draw a Line across it. Trim one side of the Line using the Trim Figure tool. What happens? For me, the Fixed Constraint is removed without warning and the trimming of the Line disturbs the shape of the Spline...

Trying to edit an imported step file

This worked for me, David. It doesn't regenerate with a squared off end until you move the face, though.

Moving, rotating a part created in an assembly

Thanks Jim. Interesting to read this: https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-7300AC15-E23A-4259-9698-ADCFBFFE7B6C See also: https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/203174581-Inventor-2016-iLogic-Remove-all-Adaptivity-in-Assembly

    Constraint for came follower

I think it needs the implementation of an additional constraint from the D-Cubed 3D DCM https://plm.sw.siemens.com/en-US/plm-components/d-cubed/3d-dcm/

    Constraint for came follower

You just need to click Apply once to gain the focus on it, then holding down the Enter key keeps clicking it for you : )

    Constraint for came follower

In case anyone wants to try this. You can drag the cam but it only works correctly with Precise Placement. Click the Apply button to gain focus on it and then hold down your Enter key to drive the animation. You can change the speed and also the rotational direction of the cam, whilst it's...

    Constraint for came follower

Well done beefy! Works beautifully! If you set the rotation increment to 1 degree, you get a nice smooth animation. I'd completely forgotten that tutorial. There's so much that can be done using Precise Placement. I've never understood why it doesn't get more attention. See also...
