Alibre Design Earns "Designed for Windows" Logo: Delivers More Spontaneous Communication, Single Sign-on
RICHARDSON, Texas, October 16, 2001 - Alibre today announced that Alibre DesignTM, its online mechanical design and data-sharing application, has achieved the Designed for Windows® XP logo. The logo program brings hardware and software quality standards under a single logo, making it easier for consumers to recognize products that are designed for the Windows XP operating system. The Alibre Design application now takes advantage of key Windows XP features, such as Windows Messenger, to increase the spontaneity of communication and deliver an enhanced "experience." Additionally, .NET Passport technology is employed to streamline login for users.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Alibre to increase the power of online mechanical design to drive productivity and reduce costs for its manufacturing customers," said John Frederiksen, general manager of Windows marketing at Microsoft Corp. "By meeting the engineering guidelines of the Designed for Windows logo program, Alibre is ensuring customers have a great real-time communications experience with Windows XP and Alibre Design."
"True online 3D CAD requires a native Web architecture that enables instantaneous and spontaneous communication throughout the design process," said Alibre CEO J. Paul Grayson. "Since we've invested in such an architecture in Alibre Design, the Windows XP environment is ideal because it emphasizes connectivity and communications, directly enhancing the real-time design experience we're delivering to manufacturers."
Alibre Design is now available for Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows NT®, anticipating the launch of Windows XP on October 25. As part of the certification process, Alibre Design was thoroughly tested to ensure smooth migration from previous Windows operating systems to Windows XP.
