Press Release

In New VAR Program from Alibre, Alibre Design "Provides the Missing Piece" For CAD Product Lines

RICHARDSON, Texas, April 23, 2002 - Alibre today announced the creation of a program for value-added resellers (VARs) to sell Alibre Design, the company's award-winning application for 3D mechanical design, real-time collaboration and data sharing. The program offers an attractive margin-among the highest in the computer-aided design (CAD) industry-for sales of the Alibre Design application.

The program allows both geographically and vertically focused VARs to build markets for Alibre Design. Alibre will provide marketing and technical support to VARs, including lead generation. For more information, interested resellers should contact Alibre by June 30, 2002 to enter the program.

According to the company, Alibre Design offers unique CAD-neutral collaboration and data-sharing tools, providing interoperability between CAD applications through its use of the STEP standard, so it offers CAD VARs an added-value complement to their product lines. Additionally, the real-time team collaboration sessions possible through Alibre Design provide an avenue for VARs to improve ongoing contact with their customers and to give online guidance. Custom services by VARs for their customers also can be enhanced by the peer-to-peer data sharing and collaboration capabilities of Alibre Design.

What VARs are Saying
VARs are already interested in Alibre's program and signing quickly, including CADVisions, based in Dallas, and Trilogy International Do Brazil Ltda which serves the automotive supplier market throughout Latin America.

"By becoming a VAR for Alibre Design, CADVisions can offer more tools to our clients, and provide that missing piece of Internet collaboration," said Roy Burchfield, president of CADVisions. "We already have customers in mind that can directly benefit because they have subsidiaries in different locations running various CAD packages. Plus, Alibre Design will also let us have more insight when we're assisting customers-our application engineers can go online with customers in a Team Design session and 'take helm of the ship' to guide the customer as needed."

"Alibre Design will be a perfect fit for small and medium-size suppliers in Latin America that have not been able to purchase the costly CAD systems specified by the large automakers," said Alexandro Ortega, Latin America director for Trilogy International Do Brazil Ltda. "Alibre Design gives them a means to collaborate in real time and be part of the engineering community. OEMs such as Ford, GM and DCX can improve supplier participation in product development and engineering decisions."

What Daratech is Saying

"Alibre's embrace of the channel expands the opportunities available to value-added resellers serving the product creation industry," said Bruce Jenkins, executive vice president of Daratech (Cambridge, Mass.). "VARs seeking Internet-based collaborative design tools that can complement existing offerings should take a close look at Alibre's technology, its reseller compensation plan, and the recurring revenue promised by its subscription licensing model."

The Alibre VAR program is led by Steve Milliren, the company's director of sales, and the co-founder of Advanced Data Graphics (ADG), a VAR for PTC and Autodesk products later acquired by RAND Worldwide. "As a reseller for Alibre Design, VARs can establish an early position in the surging market for collaborative tools," said Milliren. "And with its subscription pricing model, Alibre Design offers a recurring revenue source for VARs." Interested resellers should contact Milliren directly: (972) 671-8492, extension 262, stevem@alibre.com.

Alibre Design is the only low-cost, easy-to-deploy application for mechanical design, collaboration and data sharing. Built for the Internet with a peer-to-peer architecture, Alibre Design lets designers, engineers and their associates create 3D models and 2D associative drawings, share and edit product designs from different CAD applications, and spontaneously collaborate online in real time using precise design data. The application's support for open data standards such as STEP provides a CAD-neutral environment that maximizes the return from users' existing investments in CAD and PDM systems. Through Alibre Design, manufacturers can realize slashed costs, boosted productivity, improved quality and shorter manufacturing cycles. Customers include GE Power Systems, Marchon Eyewear, Universal Avionics and Dresser Rand. Founded in 1997, Alibre Inc. is privately funded and based in Richardson, Texas.
