Alibre and ENGINEERING.com Join Forces To Deliver Low-Cost, CAD-Neutral Application For Design and Collaboration

RICHARDSON, Texas and WOODBRIDGE, Ontario, July 29, 2002 -- Alibre Inc. and ENGINEERING.com today announced an alliance to promote and deliver Alibre Design. The low-cost application for mechanical design, online collaboration and data sharing is now available through ENGINEERING.com [TSVX:EGN]. ENGINEERING.com is being developed to become the ultimate resource tool for the global engineering community, as well as a leading business-to-business Internet-based marketplace for engineering products and services.

Alibre Design, a next-generation 3D CAD system, includes a parametric 3D solid modeler, associative 2D drawing creation, integrated real-time collaboration, and Web-based data sharing and management. Alibre Design natively supports STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data), allowing users to share, discuss and edit precise product data from different CAD applications. To assist all users, the Alibre Assistant, a service representative, provides personalized real-time guidance directly from the application. The recently released Alibre Connect tools provide additional function by embedding an Alibre Design menu in popular CAD applications, including ones available through ENGINEERING.com, to provide one-click access to Alibre Design features.

"Through this alliance with ENGINEERING.com, Alibre significantly broadens our reach and exposure to tens of thousands of engineers," said J. Paul Grayson, president and CEO of Alibre. "ENGINEERING.com's global Internet presence will further spread the message of Alibre Design-low-cost, 3D mechanical design and collaboration with unprecedented support and service."

"The engineers who use ENGINEERING.com recognize the power of the Internet and are always looking for valuable technologies-like Alibre Design-that can help them leverage that power in their day-to-day businesses," said Brian Mori, executive vice president, business development of ENGINEERING.com.

"Alibre Design is versatile-complementing engineers' existing CAD systems with real-time collaboration, or providing others with a quick and easy path to powerful 3D solid modeling."
