Last year we held a design contest for Alibre Design Xpress users to show off what could be done with that new version of Alibre Design. We got a lot of impressive entries from many people who didn't previously have access to a parametric solid modeler. This year we want to get our power users in on the fun and we're looking forward to some exciting entries.
This contest will be held live in the Alibre Design User Forums. Everyone will have the chance to see and comment on submissions, enter their own, and, upon the entry deadline, cast their vote for the new winners.
Enter your designs in the Alibre Design Contest for the chance to win bragging rights and one of the prizes. Upgrades and cold hard cash are up for grabs.
- Review and accept the Terms and Conditions posted here and in the Design Contest Forum.
- Submit each of your entries as a New Topic in the Design Contest Forum by the entry deadline, midnight CDT, April 30, 2006.
- Include a title and a description of how the design would be used in the real world.
- Include one or two 800 x 600 pixel images of the model
- Participants must be registered Alibre Design users with a valid license for Alibre Design
- Designs must be created primarily with Alibre Design.
- Designs entered in the 2005 Alibre Design Xpress Contest are not eligible.
- Upon request by Alibre, design files must be provided for verification to ensure authenticity and that they were created in Alibre Design.
- Entries will be submitted to and displayed in the Alibre Design User Group in the Design Contest forum and may be voted upon by fellow users of Alibre Design products. Each submission must have a description and demonstrate serious intent/design or usage.
- Voting takes place in the Alibre Design User Forum. Registration in the user forum is required to vote. Entries can be viewed by everyone.
- Final contest winner will be decided by Alibre, Inc.
- Contestants must be opted in for Alibre Design communications to participate.

- An Entry may be disqualified and removed if it violates the rules of the Alibre Design User Group Forum or the Terms and Conditions of the contest.
- During final judging, the following elements will be taken into consideration:
- Number of features
- Overall complexity of geometry
- Manufacturability
- Popularity among Forum users
- Elegance and creativity of model
- Alibre reserves the right to make changes to the prizes and rules if necessary.
- Employees of Alibre and their families are not eligible for the contest.

Important Dates
- Entry deadline: Midnight CDT, April 30, 2006.
- Voting will start May 1 and close May 7, 2006.
- Finalists will be notified by email and must submit their model for verification by May 10.
- Winners will be announced May 15 and posted on the Alibre Design Contest Winners page.
- First Place - $500 cash award and an upgrade to Alibre Design Expert
- Second Place - $250 cash award and an upgrade to the next version of Alibre Design
- Third Place - $100 cash award and a one-year maintenance extension
- Honorable Mention (5) - $50 cash
