Verus Grond --

Verus Grond is the CEO of CAD/CAM Dienstleistungen [Services] GmbH in Hagen, Germany. His company has five employees including three engineers, and they provide mainly mold design for a wide variety of items -- from connecting rods to all kinds of scissors, including baby clippers.
Many of the products designed by CAD/CAM Dienstleistungen are manufactured with very old methods. According to Verus, many of the companies he works with do not use NC machines or other modern equipment.
However, Verus still wants modern, advanced CAD tools for his company. He and his engineers recently tested several solid modeling applications including IronCAD, Inventor and Alibre Design. They registered for a free trial of Alibre Design, but he says, "We didn't need 30 days -- the decision to buy Alibre Design took just two days."
Verus found Alibre Design to be quite different from the other applications. "The key differentiator for Alibre Design from other CAD products is that it is really easy to learn and use. Other CAD products are overloaded with icons. Plus, we make molds and forgings that require many, many fillets. Alibre is really good for mold design."
"With Alibre Design, you don't have so many things to decide while you're using it -- no lengthy forms to fill out. You don't need to be a mathematician to use it. Alibre Design has a really straight interface and workflow."
Verus plans to expand his company's use of Alibre Design. "Our three engineers are located in three cities and we want to be able to share files more easily. We don't want to invest in Pro/ENGINEER because a company like ours cannot achieve a return on investment with it. We want more licenses of Alibre Design. It's an easy decision for us."
