Alibre Design 8.2 and later requires DirectX 9.0c. You will not be able to install Alibre Design without having an appropriate DirectX version installed.
Before you proceed:
It is likely that you need DirectX 9.0c, not DirectX 8.1. DirectX 9.0c is what should be downloaded for all users running Windows XP. All versions of Alibre Design 8.2 or later require DirectX 9.0c. If you have an earlier version of Alibre Design than 8.2 then you may install DirectX 8.1, though 9.0c is still recommended if supported by your operating
system.

This file is available for download from the Alibre Support Center as a courtesy to our users. For support and complete information visit the DirectX 8.1 Runtime download page on the Microsoft Web site.
Instructions
- Download dx81NTeng.exe (7.7 MB). When prompted, save the file to your hard drive.
- Double-click the downloaded file on your hard drive; then follow the instructions.
