Maker Faire brings a whole host of communities together including the arts, crafts, science and engineering. The Faire features "Makers" (hobbyists, do-it-yourselfers, tinkerers, hackers, etc.) from all over the world sharing their creations. Maker Faire has become a significant event in just a couple of years—growing by over 325%, reaching over 60,000 attendees, and expanding to more cities with each passing year. Alibre will be attending the upcoming Maker Faire as it makes its debut in the motor city, Detroit, on July 31st - August 1st.

Tech Tip: Creating a Fishmouth Cut

 

When using tubing it is often desirable to use a fishmouth cut for correct fit and welding purposes. This can easily be accomplished by using a combination of configurations and part booleans. As with most things in Alibre, there are a variety of different techniques that can be used that essentially give you the same end results.

Gadget Freak: Gas Sensors Sniff Out Danger

 

Here's a little extra content provided courtesy of Design News.

Natanel Eizenberg decided to build a sensor module that would detect and measure carbon monoxide and methane to help ensure safe environments for his co-workers and family. But in addition to creating an alarm circuit, Eizenberg added a wireless link that communicates with a nearby PC. Adding a wireless gateway could extend monitoring and control operations to the Internet.
