Trying to draw a project over on the Carbide 3D forums

OIC, you have to have multiple separate objects for this single command:

When I do that, it will not allow me to set the direction: and when I leave that field to do so, it instantly fills in a 2.

Tried that, but it changes back to 2.

Trying to draw a project over on the Carbide 3D forums

Had a request for a rack over on the Carbide 3D forums, so am trying to draw it up at: https://community.carbide3d.com/t/drawing-in-alibre-v29/104126 got as far as selecting the plane to draw in and drawing a circle, but was blocked when I tried to expand it into multiples --- a _linear_...

Would love to see a version of Alibre that works on Mac, how about all of you?

Emulation does not afford consistent interaction w/ native aspects of the UI such as Services.

Would love to see a version of Alibre that works on Mac, how about all of you?

I would be very glad of this as well, esp. if it worked well w/ an Apple Pencil used on an iPad connected to/controlling a Mac.

Working through the Atom 3D Exercise Manual in v29

A new user is likely to be put off by a large filesize download with a high page count and a lot of material which does not apply to them. Better to have one master file and use conditional content to tune it to each possible presentation instead --- I still see merit in three separate texts...

Working through the Atom 3D Exercise Manual in v29

Yeah, I'm not seeing why the division between versions is made in such a way that basic training materials do not apply to all versions. If you're going to have 3 separate product levels w/ overlapping features, the most straight-forward approach would be to have 3 manuals, there the first...

Machines that are Tiny and Building More Machines doing "Bigger" Things...

    Yes. I would love to see a matching (human-written) G-code file for cutting that w/ a 4-th (A)-axis.

Machines that are Tiny and Building More Machines doing "Bigger" Things...

Neat! (my own G-code deploys on machines running Grbl, so is painfully simple --- not loops, branches, or variables). Are you doing any 4th-axis work? If you could share a simple file which shows some basic operations and a matching photo (or 3D preview) of what it cuts, I'd be very glad to see...

Machines that are Tiny and Building More Machines doing "Bigger" Things...

The CNC Cookbook site was purchased and is still up --- no new content being added, but it is at least not vanishing to archive.org, though it does take a bit of searching to find some pages (I believe that they are being organized into a useful hierarchy?). I've been considering re-melting the...

A little game to pass the time and stave off boredom :-)

Clever and fun! I have to admit I was kind of hoping for something along the lines of: https://bezier.method.ac/ which would help in learning the application...

V29 UI enhancements are good but there's still room for improvement

Yeah, clicking on the inviting blue circle w/ question mark in the upper right-hand corner back when I was trying to use v28 would have been a good idea.... I'll probably pause my posting until I've finished reading through all those online pages for v28. Thanks!

V29 UI enhancements are good but there's still room for improvement

As a naïve user, I'd like to note that I have thus far found v29 more comfortable and better looking/less fussy/less cluttered than previous versions and having managed to make it through a tutorial showing how to make one part, ventured off into trying to draw on my own, but was stymied by not...

Working through the Atom 3D Exercise Manual in v29

The Atom 3D one was what I had on my Kindle and I was traveling --- also, it's my intent to switch back to Atom 3D once the v29 version is released --- but fair point, and I'll start over w/ the other one.

Working through the Atom 3D Exercise Manual in v29

There is a PDF at: https://alibre.com/AlibreDownloads/Alibre_Atom3D_Exercise_Manual.pdf which I hope will be updated once the V29 version of that product is released --- in the meanwhile, the UI seems to have not changed sufficiently that it is completely obsolete. A minor note: - pg. 13...

Is heating the plastic up with a heat gun an option? I would not use a metal tool out of concern for the cutting flutes.

V29 UI enhancements are good but there's still room for improvement

Usually, shift-clicking a nudge/spinner will increase the value used by a factor of 10 --- is that not implemented?

Machines that are Tiny and Building More Machines doing "Bigger" Things...

(ob. discl., I work for Carbide 3D) We have a video series on this: https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/materialmonday and the usual suggestions are: - single flute tooling - a light application of diluted dish soap on the surface to help break chips - adjust feeds and speeds to arrive at a...

    Poll: Extrude Icons

I would want 2, very clear/representational icons, but I would also want hover tips which are text straight-forward enough to clearly explain to a naïve user what is intended.
