3DS acquires Cimatron

And Cimatron owns GibbsCAM apparently. I wonder what that means for future GMD features and integration with 3rd party software.

Watching this with some interest as we have a old version of Gibbs 2007 which we have not updated as up till now there has been no need.

I note that the 3DS symbol is in the top left hand corner of the Gibbs site now.

Be interesting to see if they go into competition with MecSoft!!

It's been close to a year and no news so far on how the acquisition might affect GM users. Maybe that means it won't.

First victim - Visual CAM for Geomagic Design. No more versions after the current one

Mecsoft just released VisualCam for Geomagic 2015 in March of this year and the press release made it sound like they were intending to continue product development. Did they announce otherwise recently?

It is not possible to order maintenance for the product anymore. All current customers on maintenance will be migrated to Visual CAM Standalone. It's still a great product, but not integrated.
