Assembly problems

I am working with copyrighted material here, so I will not post my files. You will just have to help me the best you can. I have two assemblies. A main assembly and a sub. Both assemblies have a rotating Shaft Central to the X axis. When both assemblies are opened as individual files, all rotating parts work as planned.

When I insert the sub assembly into the main assembly the shaft remains locked, no matter what constraint I apply. And I think I've tried about all of them. I know you're gonna have questions so fire away.

I think this is what you want, right click the sub assembly in the tree and select make flexible

In the design explorer RM select the subassembly you want to rotate and choose Make Flexible from the pop up menu.

Solution as above however bear in mind you won't be able to make the sub-assembly flexible if it contains linear or circular patterns, not sure about mirrors.
