Bad area measurement

That is curious. I checked on my system and see the same thing. Although I have my decimal places set to three but the Measure tool has its own mind on what to display.

Makes sense to me. The status bar is simply showing a rounded number but that doesn't explain the strange number.

It has probably more to do with the conversion of internal geometry engine units (cm??) to inches, for display, than how floating point numbers (IEEE 754) are stored in memory!

The conversion is either:

cm * 0.3937007874015748031496062992126 = inches

OR

cm / 2.54 = inches

If the former multiplication is used and that conversion factor number is rounded, to say 0.3937, then you "may" see an error in some displayed calculations! I'm sure Alibre can clarify if this has a possible effect on why the OP may see the issue they see.

and if you change to 48mm * 36mm you get this:

1652883353740.png

because of conversion from mm to cm ? ;-)

one more...

drawn a 48" by 36 rectangle in inch mode and "transfering the area job" to the Equation editor:
regardless the "low precision" it looks ok:

changing the dimensions to 48mm * 36 mm in mm-mode:

well... d1/unit ( 48mm/1mm ) results in 47 mm...hm...
