Can't get in to the repository

Can't get in to the repository

The button will not work. It is not grayed out, it just will not open. I have been saving everything in the file system and now have too much "stuff" in there to find what I am looking for.

Need to do some housecleaning I guess.

Any ideas on how to get the repository open? :? :?

Hello Kevin,

When Alibre is loading, there is a window that mentions the activities that go on. At one point, it should say "loading local repositories". Does this happen ?

Sorry it took so long to get back on the board,

Hi Gaspar;

I looked for the "loading repositories" window and did not see it go by, it may have but it all loaded so fast at one point I could not tell what it was doing. Can I look for it somewhere else in the program?

Silly question...

How long did you use the repository function ? Did you save your files to the repository instead of to the Windows files system ?

and last (sorry for asking if this is one is too dumb)....

Do you know the difference among saving to the repository and to the Windows file system ?

Oh boy now you are asking the hard questions!

I have never used the repository to save files because I was not sure what it was for. :? After looking through the windows file system for a part I wanted (and reading the help section) I found out the repository had thumbnails which would have made my search a lot quicker.

I am a metal sculptor and have been teaching myself Alibre for design work on my art.

So with me no question is dumb, I spend my days with a welder, hammer and a big anvil. Computors are smoke and mirrors and a certin amount a magic.

A sculptor.... wow !!!

Tell me if you have a web site

Next question... do you have a paid Alibre version or are you running Alibre Xpress ? and if you have the paid version, did you choose the one that comes with the repository ? I haven't checked lately but the repository used to be an optional feature.

Yes I do have a website, it is http://www.kevincaron.com
I am running a paid verison of "10" and as for if it comes with the repository or not I could not say for sure.

Can you tell me what the repository is for? Do I need it?

I took a good look around. Congratulations, I enjoyed your work quite a lot. Specially "so close" and "twin tones". I'd love to hear the sound of those bells 8)

Take a look here. This will tell you if your version of AD comes with the repository (the repository is at the very bottom of the list).

About needing it, I don't think so. You're working with realtively small assemblies. The repository is good for places where many people work on the same designs.

OK,,, So I feel a little stupid. But that does explain why I could not get it to work.

Note to self.... READ THE BOOK

Thanks for looking at my work, I have a lot of fun making stuff with my hands.

Now it's off to do some reading

Nah.... leave the reading to somebody else... you keep up the good art work 8)

By the way, the sorroundings in most of the photos in your www look a lot like where I live (Queretaro, Mx).

Cheers !
