I was thinking today, I wonder how many people use the software just themselves? And how many might be using the software in a company, where multiple users could be accessing the same files?

Single Alibre user, but in a larger company environment, but files are stored on a central file server with version control so those files can be accessed from a number of PC's (office, lab, workshop) and remotely from a laptop on customers sites via a VPN.

This is an interesting poll. Would have been interesting to also poll what product(s) or service the user(s) is/are using the software for. You can get some idea from the questions on the forum and the posts in the media section but how is Alibre being used in industry as compared to, say, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and Inventor. I say this because where I worked Alibre was virtually unknown except to a few designers that I told about it.

I'm a new user and a single user. It's mainly hobby but I sometimes get asked to do freelance stuff. I won't need customers to have a spare license seat of software now so maybe it'll help me earn enough to pay for it.
I worked in a design office with Inventor for 14 years before retiring and Alibre looks just the job at a sensible price.

We are a small mfg companywith our own in-house Tool & Die center for manufacturing Compaction Press Tooling. There are two of us who design tooling, and another 3-5 users who are in the Engineering Dept working on Automation projects. I have been using Alibre since 2014 when I started here. I think the company first started using it around 2010/2011 or so.

I started with Alibre10 years ago designing fishing lures , make prototypes, with those I make production molds, then mass produce the fishing lures for other companies.
when i started i couldn't find anyone to make aluminum molds so i bought cad software and a small cnc and taught myself how to do this. I could make a prototype mold in a week with the cnc and now with 3d printing i have have prototypes in a couple hours.
I have done this for 35 years.

A long retired GM Chassis Designer. Many years on Unigraphics (which I loved). I always loved what I did for a living. So I still like to play around for a hobby. Design some parts for myself, some for my car buddies. UG did so much more, so much easier!

I am the company draftsman and have been using Alibre for over 10 years. We are a general engineering and gearbox overhaul company and my main drawing job is to draw the items, mainly shafts and gears, that come in for repair/ replacement. This gives the machine shop clear drawings to work from and helps with repeat work. The specialised winches we build are designed and drawn by a contract engineer who uses Inventor.

Single User (at the moment), I work as an Independent Concept-Industrial Design and CGI Contractor.
Mechanical Engineer by education, I worked with Maruti Suzuki(Intern), Bosch and then an LED Lighting Startup before pivoting to working Independently.
Ex-Autodesk Expert Elite for Fusion, now a very happy Alibre user.

My main clients are Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises, assisting clients take their ideas from napkins sketches to Research & Concepts to Design/DFM to CGI for Marketing and Advertising.
Recently, I am further pivoting to the more creative/visionary side of the trade encompassing Industrial Design, Films, Games and Visualisation industries.
I have lot's of plans and wish move on from selling my skills as a service to investing my time into building my own products.
5 year goal is to expand into a Creative Studio, a 3-6 member generalist special-forces like team.
Need more real world on-ground experience before the dive.
Currently on a break to re-strategise the path forward, my journey has been an unconventional one.

My pipeline involves various tools like Alibre, Moi, Plasticity, Affinity, Blender, Houdini, ZBrush, RizomUv, Marmoset, Substance, Unreal Engine.
Alibre is going to be the MCAD for me and my business doing it all for everything that is to come.
I love the software, the company and the community.
Wish for better surfacing tools, modernisation and would love to see online purchasing capabilities globally.
(Some of my friends found the User Experience of going through a VAR SalesFront in 2023 an inconvenience, a point of friction impacting purchasing decisions)
