Did Microsoft Copilot (AI) kill VBScript?

VBA is being replaced with Python and JavaScript. Is COM next?

Of all the things AI might kill, VBS isn't a bad starting place. I'd upvote killing Python and COM. Python because it is slow and COM because it is a pain to work with.

Powershell is better and I don't create vbs programs as much but still, it's simple and easy to build with. I agree that these are old technologies and they should be updated or replaced the problem is PowerShell doesn't cover the same API's as VBS and we don't have a modern replacement for COM. What is great about COM is all the programs that support it for automation.

In my testbed app for IPC and general external program communication, I use my fork of XDMessaging. I tested other options, but XD was the easiest to fork and update for .NET481 and Core and it integrated easily into my projects.
