After placing a hole on a face with the Hole Tool if I then try to position this hole with the Dimension tool from the Sketch toolbar (See the image), the Hole Tool shuts down.

If I use the Dimension tool from the ribbon toolbar all works Ok

Is anyone else seeing this?

This is a screen recording trying to show what is happening. I'm able to reproduce this fault with every part file.
You have to click confirm in the hole dialog before using dimension tool. If you dont do that it will be considered as cancel in hole dialog.

Once you click confirm then the hole tool closes and you have to then re-edit the hole feature to dimension the position of the holes.

After placing the holes using the hole tool the position can be dimensioned using the dimension icon on the ribbon toolbar all while still in the insert hole dialog box.

I cannot use the dimension icon from the sketch toolbar as shown in the video. V28 would let me do this.

You have to use the dimension tool in the hole tools tab, if you look at your video it is highlighted in the top of your screen as soon you place the first hole.

Edit:
If you place the holes click confirm and then right click on the sketch and chose edit, it will work.
That is the way I allways do it because this way you avoid adding more holes by mistake.

I know that I can use the dimension tool from the ribbon as you say but my point was that I am sure that I could use the dimension tool from the sketch toolbar in V28. I don't have version 28 installed to recheck..

I've tested this and like Albie, I don't have any problem using the dimensions tool from sketch toolbar to position new hole whilst the Hole Tool is open.

Try re-setting your user profile to see if that fixes it.

I don' t use and haven't use any toolbars since the ribbon was introduced. But that doesn't make your workflow any less valid.
My suggestion is to submit a Support Ticket and send your video along to support.

This was the response I got from Support.

" I have found that the issue is not present if you just add the toolbar and then try to insert and dimension holes. However, if I close Alibre, start a new session with the toolbar still active, and repeat this process, the Hole tool crashes when using the Dimension tool from the toolbar.

Since I have been able to reproduce this and have confirmed it is a bug, I have submitted it to our Development team for investigation and a fix."
