Since 1996 I have been working with Working Model 2D, then 3D, 4D, visualNastran and Simwise, alias Dynamics and Simulate for Geomagic.
I found very interesting to use the Tools/Slide Show command to run demo files, small and quick enough to open, execute and close in few seconds.
Here's in
http://www.lista.it/slideshow.mp4
a 40 minutes video that shows the Tools/Slide Show command opening several simple files running in a Pentium IV 3GHz computer - an old workstation - to give an idea of the possibilities of the software.
Bigger files can play as well, but it takes several seconds to open and run them, therefore are not here included.
Ciao!

A clamp.
Still trying to figure Dynamics out. It is a steep learning curve for me.

Latch lock (not sure thats the right name?)

/Michael

Edit: Added a spring (it would be cool if it was able to simulate compression of my spring part)

Thank you for sharing, it is a very inspirational video.

10 balls leaving a tube in slow motion.

Tip: If you are tired of strange errors then try to select "Euler" in stead of "Kutta Merson" in settings->integration.

Edit: oh well.... file is to big....

Three basic ways to solve collision problems in
http://www.simwise4d.it/example/3collision.mp4

A ball is bouncing on a cantilever beam, three cases:

1) In the right, the default impulse/momentum collision model is used (Dynamics for Geomagic, alias SimWise Motion).

2) In the middle, collision custom model to spread out collision forces vs. time (available in Dynamics for Geomagic), which allows for linear fea analysis of non-deformed mesh at time integration step of cantilever beam (with Simulate for Geomagic, alias SimWise 4D)

3) In the left, flexbeam scripting (same as Working Model 2D, or manual modeling in Dynamics for Geomagic) of cantilever beam with default impulse/momentum collision model (the ball now jumps out of the beam as in real world), again in Dynamics for Geomagic

A combination of the second and the third approach (flexible bodies) is a powerful key to simulate real machine behaviour within this cost effective level of software, that is to say without resourcing to non linear mechanics of much more complex and expensive simulation tools.

Paolo, what do you mean by "manual modeling in Dynamics for Geomagic"? How do I go about doing this, or learning how to do this? (I want to make a flexible cantilever beam).
Thank you,

PJ
