embossing

Tried to draw this "easy part" but failed miserably. I'm just concerned with the embossing. It doesn't seem to be as easy as it looks. Thanks in advance for any help.

Which version of Alibre are you using? The workflow would be different using Atom vs Expert.

I did this version using the standard modelling module, but if you are using Expert, this part would probably better suited to Alibre's sheetmetal module.

Sheet metal expects a dimple to be contained within a single face, so I don't see any obvious way to model that part in SMP.

I modeled this some time ago in Sheet Metal and used Part Modeling features to create the rib. I added a second configuration so I could have a part that could flatten. The one downside is that I need to Regen All when I switch configs to clear any errors in the DE. One other option would be to create the rib as a separate part and use a Boolean Unite to insert it into the SM part, similar to how I demonstrated on my louver video.

Alibre could use a Rib tool that traverses across several planes.
