Fillets. Seems like they used to be easier.

Struggling with a drawing that I cannot share due to NDA... but man, trying to put a fillet on edges is crazy difficult for me today. I have not had to scratch draw this particular part in a year or so, but they want a redesign with new features... and I have wasted the afternoon trying to workaround/trick the fillet into applying. Sorry, had to vent. Maybe I'm at fault here.... and I'll just start over.

??? Do you have Real Time Previews turned ON? Turn them Off in the fillet dialog if you do, that's the little icon at the bottom LH corner of the dialog. Real Time Previews will fail sometimes if the fillet modifies an edge that is tangent or adjacent to the fillet and is next in line for filleting.
Another thing to check is if you have or need to have Tangent Propagate turned On. I have sometimes had to turn that Off and manually select all the adjacent edges for filleting.

This isn't limited to fillets, fillets just makes it more visible in normal usage. I wonder if the fillet overhaul will address this.
 
As an update, I redrew the part and used the techniques mentioned above (thanks) with better success.. still had to fumble around a bit. Been up to date with Alibre for 20 years, and I suppose what I am drawing is getting more complex, but it seems like the earlier days did not have these issues.
 
Real time 3D previews mostly help, but for fillets they can actually make life more difficult (or even freeze Alibre) - as already mentioned, if things are not going well, try disabling the real time preview for the fillet.
