Help. I am trying to import a stp file.

I converted my stl to stp online and am trying to import a stp. Twice Alibre sticks at 21%. Any suggestions?

Converted stp files are hard to deal with and frequently result in problems. I've never had an online converter actually work.

It's not 100%, but works better than anything i've found online.

If you don't want to try installing the command line program and script from the link above, change the file extension of the .stl file to .txt, and upload it here. I'll have a go at it with the script.

What is the file size of your step file? If it is huge it might take a while and it might appear stuck while it's actually going through the data.

STL to STEP can be messy.

I import the .stl to FreeCAD then after a couple of clicks export it to .stp. No problems importing those files.
