How is WINE support in 2021?

I CAN GET MY LICENSE TO ACTIVATE ON THE v29 BETA ON WINE!!!
I still can't get Alibre to actually launch... But It's progress!!Screenshot from 2026-03-31 03-19-44.png
This is the error I'm getting.

I've used Winetricks to install corefonts, dotnet48, vcrun2019, dxvk and d3dx11 and d3dx9, and then the Alibre installer claimed it successfully installed the version VC++ 2010 it wants. Haven't tried moving to Proton yet to see if Steam works better

*EDIT* Steam didn't do better, but I'm an idiot. I fat-fingered the = key when using wine. But now the launcher opens! But I can't get into a part environment. It's progress though!

Our licensing provider has different libraries for each OS - so if trying to get Alibre to run on Linux at the moment, not only does WINE (or whatever) need to support DirectX, dotNET etc. it also needs to fully support the Windows Libraries for licensing. We obviously only include the Windows licensing libraries in our installer.

Licensing actually succeeded (seemingly)! I used winetricks to get DirectX running through Vulkan. So far none of that is causing errors. I can get the launcher to open, but I can't go further than that. It's failing because Wine can't satisfy Alibre's Windows-only COM dependencies it seems... Like you said, mainly dotnet.

EDIT:
Nevermind, I understand now. It's the licensing DLLs causing my COM dependency errors. Still, I'm glad to actually get the launcher to open!! @DavidJ I really thank you for your insights on this thread from time to time and for your help!

EDIT:
Here's this just to everyone can see what a beautiful sight it is to get this far:

This is a huge win!!! I expect that the further away that Alibre gets from Windows, the closer it'll get to WINE compatibility in Linux... If that makes sense.

Here's hoping for a native Linux version!!!
