Inconsistent behaviour when using mouse for rotation / panning

I've been trying out Atom3D and so far the only major issue I've found is some inconsistency with rotating and panning with the middle mouse button, even with the default keybinds. As a previous user mentioned (see Input Lag When Using MMB for Rotation post), the middle mouse click doesn't register until the mouse is moved at a certain velocity. The L+R hotkey seems to take effect after moving the mouse ~4 pixels away from the starting point. I've seen a couple older threads about this issue but has there been any recent updates for this?

For anyone who has this issue, someone recommended a hacky fix that seems to work. Using a mouse & mouse software that allow you to remap buttons and assign profiles per application, you can switch to a custom mouse profile when using Alibre and use something like L+R for rotation and L+R+Ctrl for panning, replacing middle mouse press with the new keybind. The lag issue seems to be related to the middle mouse click specifically, so switching away from that but still using the middle mouse button for the macro works well.
