Is there a way to adjust text alignment in dimensions?

Is there a way to make this dimension display with all the text centered? I don't mean centered between the leaders/witness lines, but center justified line-to-line...
If you can't see the example image, the top line sticks out to the left and the bottom line starts near the center and goes off to the right. It's rather ugly.

Top lines extends to the left because the 4x is a Prefix.

Bottom line starts at left of the dimension value.

There aren't good options to format this - but if the appearance is critical you could consider

* don't use Prefix - instead use Suffix , maybe something such as ' 4 off '. Should 'balance up' the text a bit.
* override the dimension text and add your prefix text into the dimension. BUT it won't update if there are edits.
* Instead of using Lower Text (apart from space character to make room), instead add a separate Label. BUT It won't be connected to the dimension.

I don't think there is any perfect answer.

Hasn't there been an enhancement request turned in on this issue? Seems to me that there has been other threads about it before along with the suggestion for an ER.
Seems like it would be simple enough to implement a fix for it, but what do I know, not being a programmer.
