Limits to the values safe to use in Curve Smoothness?

I normally set curve smoothness to 200 which makes for a nice smooth looking part. However, with that setting, attempting to create a spring or an O-Ring makes a visual mess with the spring looking more like a strange tube and the O-Ring looking more like a rolled up finger-Cot.

Is this normal or a bug do you know?

The answer is 72.

If you create a spring and up the smoothness to 200 Alibre crash. Use 72 (max) and all work good.

A bug, I think.
