Log - How Do I model a log in Alibre Design?
I know. This sounds a little crazy, but I really need to do it anyway. I would like to design rustic log furniture with Alibre Design and then photo render it and export a .tiff file of the result. Hopefully I can get a tree bark surface rendered.
Has anyone else tried anything like this and if so what techniques worked for you? I am relatively new to solid modeling and Alibre Design, so any advise would be greatly appreciated.
My first attempt at this included making several circular, 9-15 sided polygons and b-splines, one on each of several planes that are parallel to each other and a set distance apart. I then used the loft boss tool. By varying the shape of each of the features on each of the planes and by offsetting their centers I can get a log looking result. Not to straight and a little bumpy, but I don't know how to blend in a branch type feature.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug
