Modeling a helical staircase?

Hi all,

I'd like to model a helical staircase: Draw one step, then pattern it upwards linearly and at the same time rotating it around the staircase center.
Neither linear nor circular patterning seems to do the job... any ideas?

Assembly circular pattern has what you need. Am not at my computer right now so can't show full detail. Model that first step, insert into assembly, then use circular pattern.

I see, tried to model this in a part where the circular/linear combination is unavailble. Thanks for the hint!

I had a go at it in the modeling workspace. Its probably tougher than doing it in an assembly, but with a series of angled planes, its doable.
