Problem installing Microsoft VM

I can't seem to install the Microsoft VM on my Winodws XP system.

I get a number of errors during the installation and of course at the end of the process it is not installed correctly.

The worst part is now that i have tired to install this it seems to have damaged my system as well and even ith Microsoft's removal tool I am still getting strange issues.

Can anyone help, I obviously need the VM to install Alibre so I am a little stuck at this point

First try to do a restore from a the XP 'help and support' menu to before you tried the install that messed things up.

Next do all XP updates. Then run the Alibre install. If Xp is fully updated most likely you will have all the items needed but the Alibre install should tell you if you are missing something it needs.

I restored my machine from a backup. Trying to install the Microsoft VM caused a number of problems that could not be resolved without a total restore.

My XP system is patched to the latest of everything from the Microsoft site.

The problem is simply that the Microsoft VM errors out during installation. While doing this it over writes later versions of several files.

Am I the only one that can't install the VM on XP Pro?
