Question about Alibre Design license renewal

Hi all,
Wish you all a warm, healthy and creative 2026.

We need to make a decision about the Alibre Design license renewal fee. We are happy so far with Alibre.
Why should we renew our license?
Any comment could help us with our decision.
Thanks

Renewal gives you;-
* Priority support
* Access to any new releases during the period of maintenance cover
* Access to the licensing portal (useful if you need to remotely release licence activations)

If you choose not to renew, your current version will continue to run - you'll be stuck on that version, and not able to open files from newer versions (which may or may not be important to you).

Alibre is good software, been using it for a long time (almost 16 years). Has a few flaws that I wouldn't mind getting addressed but overall I like it. And considering the price that it goes for it's pretty much unbeatable.

On the other hand there are excellent (and sadly costlier) European alternatives. I don't know what the general vibe is in Belgium but here in Germany people and companies are increasingly leaning towards 'made in Germany/EU', regardless of the higher costs.

I don't renew my AD maintenance every year simply because I'm not seeing the changes I'd like to see. My last maintenance expired end of August 2025. Will I renew this year? Doubtful, mainly because the issues I have aren't being addressed and the software in it's current form mostly does what I want.

I concur with bigseb.
I am also a longtime user, started with V10 and used V12(the most stable version ever) for years.
AD does what I need. I did an update this year as I sold a project last year and the Black Friday offer was good.
Otherwise I would still be happily using my old version V21.
AD is a rare beast in this day and age, good quality for an honest price.
If only for that reason, I do want to update once in a while.

Yeah... That part was actually the main reason why I didn't resubscribe immediately after my maintenance lapsed last year. Artificially introducing an annoyance and then asking for money to make it less annoying wasn't something I wanted to reward.
That said, as soon as a version that runs on macOS and/or Linux is available I will instantly get this update. That or when I read in the changeling that some of the things I reported last year got fixed.
It is good to still have alternatives to the big names! Feature wise I am pretty happy with Alibre, there isn't much you cannot do with it. And these remaining things are covered pretty well by other complementary programs. So support for all platforms and more stability are exactly the directions I would have hoped to see and that's what it looks like we'll be getting.
