In the video, you could use the model topology and not click or measure anything if everything is modeled to the correct size.
 
Has anyone got this? I find that with imported cap screws, no matter the source, I do seem to get odd behaviour from the software. Anywhere between screws not sectioning in the model, mad lines on the drawing, so a proper solid modelled cap screw, or whatever, would be better but I can't seem to find a decent bit of info on it. Some videos are solid works, some Alibre.
Not interested in the cam stuff.
 
I got myself a license for Rapid Parts. I must say it's a great add on! Excel driven using some api magic (I think) and simple to use. I've attached a little pdf showing the layout of it and how it works.
I'd imagine if you are using PDM then you may well store up your screws or whatever, but I tend to work job to job and being able to open this up, quickly select what you need and have it built for you is pretty sweet!

A couple of things here,
...is Rapid Parts going to be or has it been updated to have a hook into the "Modeled" option for external threads? That would save a lot of time if threads are needed to be modeled.
...how successful has Rapid Parts been in the Alibre community?

Just saw the V29 update post from @Max and wonder how the new Toolbox will affect Rapid Parts? Not good, I suspect. :confused:
