Custom Alibre File Browser

Just wondering if this might be of interest to other Alibre users... I'm really bad at entering descriptions and part # for my designs and started to wonder if it might be possible to get some help. This is no more than a bit of casual code tinkering at present - but so far I've managed to...

Should the column entitled "File Number" more accurately be called "Part Number", as that seems to be the property it's adjusting?

Is it possible to add other part properties to this? I also routinely use the product and comment properties.

Yes, it is essentially operating on the same data, so it should kind of be similar. I've had this working but unfinished for years.

The API just calls it Number. But it could be for a part or assembly. Easy to change the display name there to whatever you want.

Adding other part properties is also possible.

Properties_List_v2b
Extract the script and images into the Alibre Script Library and run the script "Properties_List_v2b" from Alibre Script.
This app lets view and edit file properties for an entire assembly from one screen. This script only lists the top level assembly and top level parts. It does not go down into subassemblies.
Make sure you click "Save To Part/Assem" before closing this window. Also, make sure you Save the files too.

All the properties are shown. Columns that are "read only" have their names underlined. Reordering the columns by dragging the grid headers is temporary and will not be saved.



By clicking the Columns button a window comes up allowing you can change which columns are displayed and drag their position. This will be saved between to the scripts directory so you won't have to keep doing it.

Now has the ability to edit properties for multiple selected rows at the same time! Also added v28 builds to list but I have not tested it on there with the new PDM, so use at your own risk.
