Section view

Is it possible to modify section views? They show more lines than I want to show. All I want is that section and not the lines or parts past it.

Nick, thanks for that. I got what I wanted. But Alibre Section views to me is very inintuitive. You pick the view, but you have to create the section line in space, not exactly where it needs to be. And the two points you pick for the line are the line which cannot later be extended or shortened. If you need the section to be exactly thru a diameter - good luck.

You need a different workflow.
Start a Sketch in View then create a line for the section as long as you need. If you need it to go through the center of a hole then place a Midpoint constraint between the line and center node of the hole. Then start the Section View command and select the line, define the direction, and place the view. If you right click on the section arrow and choose Edit from the RMB menu then you can change the length of the line by dragging the ends of the line.


If your section is through a side view of a hole then you can center the sketch line with a Symmetric constraint by choosing the line as the axis of symmetry and the two sides (hidden lines) of the hole to center the section line.

You can edit the section line afterwards if it isn't exactly as you want it.

Just right click on the section line and choose Edit. You can then drag the end points etc.
