text/logo on a part

Is it possible to add text or a logo onto a part so it will show up in the design window and on drawing views?
I have sheet metal parts with screen printing on that refer to various plug connectors etc.
I want to do this as 2D geometry. I don't want to extrude it on to the part as it then ends up adding a lot of complexity to what would be very simple parts otherwise.
Applying the same text to a curved surface would be nice also - but I don't really need that...

I'd really like my screen printing to show up in the drawing views, iso and exploded views - in the right solid colour would be ideal!

Any comments on this issue? Mapping a graphic onto a particular face would be awesome, even if it was a simplified command/action, i.e. only works on planar surfaces, etc.
