This should seem like a simple matter, connecting two surfaces with a boss loft, but I am running into errors. Please help!

Two lofts is necessary, you can't loft a hollow solid

This should seem like a simple matter,
It could be even more simple; use Thin Revolve or Revolve by changing the Reference figures into Regular sketch figures. If you do, then dimension the spacing of the diagonal lines to be the same as the horizontal lines for constant thickness. (I'll be glad when those two features are combined.)

Thanks to all those who responded. BOTTOM LINE: You can ONLY do a boss loft on a solid surface or sketch, not on an extruded ring.

Gee, that would seem like a nice feature to have. I wonder if you can do that in Solidworks?

Also, had the error message been less cryptic, I would have figured it our myself. I could have done a revolve, but I though the boss loft on the two rings would be easier. I guess not.

Another option is to loft a series of circles (not rings) then shell to give the funnel.
