Rjames217 requested a quick tutorial on creating a thread lead in/out. Below is a very basic example. Obviously all relevant fillets, angles, etc are to be incorporated either in the sketch or added once the thread is complete. I have left them out for the sake of simplicity.

1) Start with cylinder to represent the neck of the bottle or jar.

2) Draw the profile of the thread in sketch mode on the appropriate plane.

3) Use the helical tool to create the helix (thread) with the correct parameters for pitch, etc

4) Click the end face of the thread. Now click "activate 2D sketch". The selected face now becomes your sketch plane. NB: in this case selecting the XY plane would have worked too, however if your thread does not end on a plane then you can simply select the end face.

5) In sketch mode click "project to sketch" and select that face again. Exit sketch mode.

6) Click the helix tool again. Use the same parameters as for the main body of the helix except you now add a taper value. In this case I used -70 degrees. NB: for inside thread you would use a positive taper value.

7) Et Voila... you now have a nice lead in. Repeat process for the other end face. Dress with balsamic vinegar before serving...
