I would be surprised if patches were only available to subscribers. People hand money over in good faith for a product that is advertised to do a particular function. If that product is full of bugs and/or crashes often making it essentially unusable, then tough, they are out of luck? Don't...

I have wondered the same, I would imagine bug fixes and patches should be available to all while minor revisions and major updates are available only to subscribers.

Not sure about elsewhere in the world, but here in Australia the annual subscription is the same price as PE itself... so $220 for PE and another $220 for the subscription.
