2D section hatch overlapping

Is there a way to change it so that the section view hatching is isolated and not overlapping other sectioned components?

This is a simple two piece assembly.

Did you create a pocket for the internal part to fill or did you just embed the smaller part? A pocket is not auto created for the embedded part, it doesn't just happen.
What you have actually created is a block of alloy of the 2 materials inside the larger part.
