3D (not 2D) DXF import/export to/from Alibre'?

I use acoustic engineering software (Ease) with which I create 3D models of spaces and objects. It uses a proprietay format for it's data files, but has DXF import and export. The DXF files are definitely 3D.

I would like to use Alibre' to create and/or edit some of the more complex objects that I need for Ease, as its drawing features are not as well evolved.
Is there any way to get from the 3D DXF format to a format that Alibre' suports in 3D? 3D DXF drawings import to Alibre' without error, but are converted to 2D, as is intended. For me this is no good.

You could try opening the DXF in one of the ACIS enabled versions of IntelliCad and then use ACISout to create a SAT file, which Alibre can Import. Not sure if you can do it with the free ProgeSoft version, though.........

Try HOOPS 3D

I did the same thing you are trying to do by using INOVATE from IronCad.
You can get a 30 trial from here.

You open the file, click on it so it changes color, right click it, and then click select CONVERT TO SOLID on the drop down menu.
