Ability to add another view to existing drawing.

Ability to add another view to existing drawing.

This happens all the time. You create a drawing with front, top, and right side views of a part. It's fully dimensioned and notated. Then you add some feature to the left side of the part.

There's no way to add the left view to the drawing, you have to just delete them all, reinsert the views, and re-dimension everything. It can be a real time-waster. Sometimes you can add an auxillary view that will work, some times you cannot. It all depends on the shape of the part - if you have a horizontal or vertical edge you can get an aux view to work, but if your part does not have horizontal or vertical edges, you're SOL.

Auxiliary view

If your part does not have either a vertical or horizontal edge you can use sketch in view to draw a line and then use this line to determine the auxiliary view.

There is currently a bug though that depends on weather the line was draw left right or up down to give the correct orientation, this is getting fixed in the upcoming service pack.

How ridiculous. But it does work.

Alibre Design Workaround #1,345,897:

Draw a line, create an aux view, delete the line.
