AD Translate

I've purchased AD Translate and have yet to get it to work.
I have 'exported' an assembly in solidworks format but it will not open in other software, i.e. e drawings, Hypershot.
The 'translated' files are all there-the assembly and associated parts with the proper file extensions.
The solidworks file will 'import' in AD. :?
Alibre support didn't have an answer and suggested re-installing.
fyi, the error message i get from e drawings is atteched.

Any help would be greatly appeciated :?

This shows that the file does not contain tessellation data needed for eDrawings. However Solidworks may not need this data and the translator would therefore work. But then again can't Solidworks open a stp file anyhow?

Just curious but why do you need this for eDrawings?

i tried opening in edrawings as a test. i had tried to open in hypershot also and did not work there either. one of my clients uses solidworks and i wanted to verify the translator utility worked. it seems to me if AD advertises the file format as solidworks it should work in other applications which use solidworks files.

Hi Astro Scott,
There is no advertising with the "eDrawings publisher".
Must be a misunderstanding on your side possibly in connection with your broken Shift key.

The Alibre Translate works well with SWX files.
Here is an SWX import example with Alibre Translate: Austin Martin

Toshi, 175 MB are underway... :)

I will send you a USB, LOL. PM me your address :D

That looks like a fun file!!!

My largest so far is 98MB, how many parts are in that one Ralf??

BTW This is an SW Assy Part in Alibre. It imported very well and no problems with Pro/E or CatiaV4 or V5 over here.

I have recently translated a load of Catia V5 files for a project. The conversion seems to work OK, even for complex assemblies with 30 or more parts.
If I make a 3D pdf of a single translated part, everthing is OK.
If I try to make a 3D pdf of a translated assembly, then the operation fails. If I am persistent and keep trying, Alibre freezes.

Anyone else having problems with "translated" models, as far as the 3D pdf feature is concerned ?
