Alibre used for Retro Nerds

Hi,

wanted to share this with all Alibre users. I'm one of the members of retro computer group, collecting "old" home computers from the eighties.

I have just finished off a project to "recreate" one of these computers "shell" virtually. But I made it in wood instead of plastic. Anyone remembering the Sinclair/Times computers? :)

Go visit http://www.zxspectrum.se if you want to see some Photorender in action! It's also a 3D model (Modelpress). All is written in swedish, so press the button "Virtual" to select the correct page. It would be nice with some comments in the guest book as well!

Alibre made this possible

nice

Very nice, or "cool" might be the correct retro term to use. This nerd likes it! You could model modern computers in a retro (or other) styles! That would be cool too. Might be some nerds that would buy them. :?

Talking of wood.....

I had an offer for someone to custom make a TV Cabinet (with closing doors) out of solid Mulberry Wood, so one weekend, I whipped out Alibre, and together with the nice features of Photorenderer came up with the attached proposal.

Not yet finished in these images. No main doors yet. The main centre doors would slide in so that when open they do not stick out and get in the way. The other doors would open in the normal manner.

Re:

That cabinet looked very nice (and realistic as well)! Is it all done in Alibre Design?

mulberry wood

Hi, nice cabinet. Is that what mulberry wood actually looks like? May I ask what wood sample finish you used from PhotoRender?

Thanks!

Mulbery wood has a dark core, with a nice grain, and a light outer section.

I hope to get that look.

The answer is no, the sample finish I used in Photorender was ....looking for it......got it.......Walnut, with some minor tweaking of the of shades etc under the Materials Editor.

Where did that furniture go??? Was going to ask for permission to use them as reference/gallery objects.
