each time a new version of AD came out I have troubles editing existing parts
I have attached one
It is not possible to switch to configuration<1>
Part was created with 2011 without any trouble, - maybe someone with 2011 can check

so then 2011 has already destroyed this part on last save

Christian, you are right, this is really mysterious.
I got it to work again with AD V2011.
My steps are:
- Open -> Save -> WFS -> RMB ->
(It looks like this file is/was "write protected")
.

...now opened again, moving the dog bone (Config 2) -> F5.
Save...
Now I can switch between Config 1 <-> Config 2
Please try it with my file.

your way to repair works, also within M-Files
open - save as - open this - regenerate
I think the write-protection is from creating a zip out of M-Files
