I did a little bit of this in the past, then came back to the 2D, due to the client not able to cope with a 3D model (mental block..)
I did the 2D schetch in a 2D CAD and exported it to the alibre drawing. Copy and paste the lines to the part sketcher, heal everything and extrude it. No constrainst... healing rather boring but possible. Use the check/healing abilities.
Then you can progress the same way..
The building I was working with was built in the 18th century. So no patterns or regular figures. I did the measurement of the fearutes with a specific sofware and simply used the 2D to extrude the main part. Then started to assemble a couple of details and dropped everything being useless for the client...
