As some may know, I have written an Alibre Add-on to generate spur and helical gears (both external and internal). I think the Add-on generates reasonably accurate representations but I'm sure there is room for improvement particularly where smaller gears are concerned (undercutting issue). At some time I intend to address these issues but in the meanwhile...
I've lately been using a couple of bevel gears - so the spur gear generator was of no use. To date, I've been manually producing the necessary bevel gear designs but wanted to be able to automate the process.. I'm part of the way there. So far, I have an Add-on that will do most of the required calculations for Standard Straight and Gleason Straight bevel gears. There is a long way to go before this will actually develop real gears in Alibre but I thought I'd share progress to date and ask if anyone knows how to design Zerol and Sprial bevel gears in Alibre.
