Copying vault to new PC

Hello,

I have a new workstation and would like to transfer my existing vault to the new station, can anyone advise the best approach.
My new station has a SSD which is for the OS and all programs, dumb question but should I install Mfiles to the SSD or to my storage hard drive? I want my hard drive to have all the vault documents stored.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Simplest method to move Vault (I'm assuming you have both server and client on your local machine) is as follows.

Make sure all documents checked in, perform Vault back up to a safe location.

Update Vault to latest version if you are not already running it, then do another back up.

Install Vault on new PC and insert licence key (you may need to retrieve updated key from your 'My Account Info' page) - delete the default Alibre Vault that you get with the install.

Restore from back up your original vault, then create connection from M-Files client to your restored vault - you can choose the file location that you restore to, it doesn't have to be the default location - so you can choose your hard drive.
