designcheck algor surfaces missing on import

Is anyone else seeing problems with the import of model geometry into designcheck? Specifically, some surfaces come up missing?

I will post some pictures in the binaries of a simple helical spring model I'm working on.

What do you do when this happens? What recourse do you have?

Also, having recently learned and used Pro/Mechanica, I must agree with other comments that designcheck is a bit of a tease.'

Any help will be appreciated

Designcheck V19, Alibre V9.

Yes I have been seeing the same problem with revolved surfaces. I got the following response from Algor -

Scott-

Yes, I see that some surfaces were missing on import. Regarding that:

(1.) In the interim, so that you can continue working, I exported an acis V8 file from Alibre and that file opens in ALGOR without any problem. I’m not certain (but hope) that you ALGOR is able to open that type of file. You should open ALGOR and go to “File; Open” and see if you are able to open the acis (.sat) file format. I’ve attached the resulting *.dmit that you should be able to open in ALGOR’s cad solid model environment and work with.

(2.) I’ve gone ahead and sent your model to our development department and asked that they determine whether we’re not correctly reading the data or Alibre is not passing off the data correctly and then have the appropriate party make the necessary corrections for a future release of whichever is the offending software.

missing surfaces

Good, so it's not just me.

I presume they haven't gotten back to you.

I'll contact the same person, and send them this information.

Two hits are better than one.

Thank you,

They sent me the converted Algor file, which was nice, and allowed me to get my task finished.

I have seen it a number of times with my revolved parts.

I hope they get a fix, quick.

Regards,
Scott
