They're completely different animals. Also, I need at least 1 meter volume.

The Next Engine one looks to be a real breakthrough, though...

Yes, indeed they all are different. (touch probe v. laser L.O.S. digitizer). Both types have their pros and cons. Until now, aquiring a laser digitizer for this price is unheard of. From what I have read, it is possible to "leapfrog" the Nextscan just as you can the Microscribe, essentially allowing one to capture as large an object as desired.

What I need, though, is a way of inputting specific point coordinates. For this, the Boulder gizmo looks interesting. Still need line of sight, though, as it works on Infra Red.
