Extrude on Angled Path

This has probably been asked before, but I can't find the answer.
I have done this with another CAD program but I can't get Alibre to do this. I want to extude a steel shape (channel) along a path that starts out straight but then angles off at 40 degrees.

Draw a line in 3d sketch which defines the centerline. then place the shape at the end of the line and do a sweep. Follow the example in the tutorials for doing a pipe layout except use a steel shape instead of a circle.

Along as it stays planar, it's done just like any other Sweep:

Otherwise, as dgstoll says, it's more practical to create a path in 3D Sketch.
