ModelPress Viewer

Following on from my posting on the email group.

I have eventually got Modelpress installed again (following all those error messages) and this was only done by doing an online installation (not download and install).....this process seemed to do some kind of uninstall along the way which must have deleted the corrupted system files.

However my Model presspublisher still tells me when I open it that I have 10 days to renew my licence. What is this about? Also the 10 days does not seem to decrease (well not yet)

Also there is no support at Modelpress to ask about renewing a licence. (Except if you pay $500 dollars for 5 phone calls....yeah right). I emailed their sales contact, but got my mail returned with a delivery error.

Anyone else get this time limit warning?

I didn't get the time limit message, but I did have a problem that turned out to be an Alibre licensing problem. Try contacting Alibre.

I did not not get Modelpress through Alibre. I got it straight from their website. It is free software (still is)

I would not have thought it could be linked to my Alibre licence...surely?

ModelPress works absolutely great for me. If you have AD Pro, Model Press is one of the Add Ons (you can publish without leaving Alibre). I have used it to show a new product concept to others, protecting the output with time limitation, password, etc. Instead of buying the Model Press Publisher (full version), upgrade to Pro through Alibre. At least you will be sure to get support that way.

Hey Barry,

Following up on this thread and on your search for animated gifs back in Yahoo (I guess that's why you are trying Model Press), my first advice would be to upgrade and use model press from Alibre, as others are suggesting.

If you're still not sure, I once found a screen capture utility that had a "video" option with which you could generate a video of what your screen shows. A quick search should get you to their site (I use Google).

With this, you could just "animate" your model in your computer, tape that, and send it over to your clients (just a thought). I remember you could even record your voice...

The reason I have not upgraded, is cos I already have most of the components.

I have:
Sheetmetal
Repository
Photorenderer (although it does not zoom and rotate)
Algor (The full MES non linear package from Algor)
and I have Model Press, which is free anyway

And I don't need freemill, so I am sure you can understand that it does not make sense to pay $500 for a free add-on.

I originally bought Alibre specifically as a modeller for Algor, and to be honest have had a lot of mesh matching issues with assemblies (which both Alibre and Algor know about and are working on), so was not convinced it was necessary the right modeller.

I have since started to like Alibre more and more in terms of value for money though, and have also recently had a nice (single part, multi feature with 400+ faces) good mesh match, with automeshing, which has restored some faith in the Alibre -> Algor. But so far this only works for single parts.

But I am confident that they are working on the assembly side too....in terms of mesh matching between Alibre -> Algor.

I am also waiting in eager anticipation of surface modelling, which would better facilitate plate and shell element meshing.

Thus, so far I have everything I need from AD Standard with the extra's I have. If that situation changes then maybe I will have to upgrade. Costs are however more of an issue here, as $500 is equivalenent to 3 to 4 times that here, in real terms, although our exchange rates have improved against the dollar recently. But it is still value for money, as the other products costs are also affected in the same way.

WOW, what a lot of babble from me, so early in the morning (my time).
