Modifying extrusion lengh of a step file

Hi,
I am using Alibre 3DAtom. A manufacturer aluminium extrusion supplied me a step file of the profile having 2 m in lengh. How using my Alibre version can I cut the model to other lengh?

Thank!

If you don't have Direct Editing in Atom 3D then the workflow I would use is:
  1. Start a sketch on one end face
  2. Draw a rectangle that encloses the profile.
  3. Create and Extrude Cut and set the length to cut off the amount needed to create the new length.
OR:
  1. Start a sketch on a plane parallel to the length.
  2. Draw a rectangle to enclose the part you want to cut off
  3. Dimension from the end you are keeping to the rectangle.
  4. Create an Extrude Cut and set to Through All.

You can project to sketch on the end of the extrusion then either boss cut intk it to reduce its length or boss extrude from it to lengthen it

Or copy and paste that projected sketch into a brand new Alibre part's sketch and extrude to any final length you want. Then you don't have the STEP model geometry sitting in the part's history.
